Vision & Bio

Mind Made Matter is an online presence created by Julia Carp. Julia is an artist who is fascinated by the ideas and their ability to build upon one another with energetic momentum. Masterpieces, civilizations and software all live under the premise, first being mental constructs, and Julia’s artistic practice is no exception to this phenomenon. As she created digital media, drawings, paintings or installations, she intends to transmute emotion into physically manifested art forms in a conscious way. Mind Made Matter was born out of this research about the mind, matter, immediate experience and alchemy.

Julia received her BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Art from the University of Washington in 2023. During her time in Seattle she interned for the Technoceramics studio Slip Rabbit, co-founded the digital art group DXARTS Collective, took part in the cross-disciplinary Honors, and was awarded a Mary Gates Research Scholar. Her work has been exhibited at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, the Digital Art & Experimental Media Gallery, Charles Odegaard Undergraduate Library, and most recently at the 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium at the University of Washington. She is currently teaching at Arts Corps, an organization that offers accessible art education.
